iWatch: its release date, its design and Apple's strategy unveiled?

An analyst at Rosenblatt Securities came back from Taiwan with some new information in his pocket. The Apple watch would have a round dial and come out in several versions this fall. Choices that outline Apple's strategy for connected objects ...

It seems that Apple 's plans for connected objects are becoming clearer. Analyst Brian Blair, who has just returned from Taiwan, was able to talk with employees in Apple's supply chain. A meeting that allowed him to discover new details on the famous iWatch.

A watch with a traditional design

First, the watch should have a round, non-rectangular dial. Many expected to see a rectangular watch landed, but the analyst's sources explained that Apple's ambition was to make a watch with a classic design. Apple thinks it can make a difference in the emerging market of connected devices by proposing something that goes in the opposite direction of what we are used to seeing in the competition.

Blair added that the iWatch could look like Motorola's Moto 360. This is a watch for Android devices. In contrast, the smartwatch Apple would be thinner than its counterpart. Although these are just rumors, these indications do not seem to be taken lightly.

They are corroborated by the fact that Apple has prospected in Switzerland to join a major watch manufacturer a few months ago, raising the idea of ??a hybrid mechanical and digital watch.

Several versions available this fall?

Brian Blair sources also told him that the watch could be released in several versions but they did not specify the number or nature of these versions. However, one of them should have a sapphire glass says the analyst. This is in line with a previous report by KGI Securities which indicated that Apple could offer watches at different prices so that the brand is present in all segments.

The Business Insider site thinks that there could only be two versions: one with a masculine design and the other with a feminine design. Finally, it seems that Apple has decided to produce its watch in larger quantities than expected. The analyst said the brand would prepare between 18 and 21 million watches, a sign that Apple has more and more confidence in its product.

In terms of production, it could start at the end of July or early August so that the product is available for sale this fall, potentially in September.

The war of health

In reality we do not know much about iWatch, except that the watch will be, like its competitors, oriented health and fitness. IOS 8 should also incorporate a new native application, Healthbook, which would work as a kind of digital health record. The application could manage physical activity, weight (BMI), blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood glucose, respiratory rate, hydration and even sleep.

Obviously, all this will require new devices with a slew of new sensors inside. This may seem complex but it seems that this is the plan provided by Apple, and not by Apple for that matter. Indeed, Wednesday Samsung introduced us to SAMI, its health platform accompanied by a bracelet riddled with sensors, the Simband. The principle remains the same with the difference that the Samsung platform will collect the medical information of users on a cloud, which may worry more than one user about the future of its data.

Anyway, this emergency presentation of SAMI suggests that Samsung wanted to preempt Apple that could indeed present Healthbook next Monday during its conference for WWDC Apple developers. The battle for healthcare devices is apparently only beginning ...
