Twitter doubles the emphasis on the news

Twitter is unbeatable on the info in real time. But, for the average person, sorting through the avalanche of tweets is a daunting task, which discourages many users. It is for this reason that the company unveiled Wednesday a series of new features, including alerts and customization of information.

In October 2015, the bird site had already launched the "Moments" section, which uses well-known media tweets related to an event or information, along with other messages selected on the same subject. Twitter will now offer more content under this heading, including several different "moments" for the same event or the same information, with several series of tweets distinct.
Live video and alerts

The social network will also try to include a live video related to the topic when it exists. Twitter also extends the registry of alerts that a subscriber can receive, with new notifications that focus on the user's interests.

The alerts will be based in particular on the accounts that follows the Twittos and topics covered in his messages, explained Keith Coleman, vice president in charge of the product, in a message posted Wednesday. The subscriber will be able to deactivate his alerts by modifying his user profile.
Another novelty, the enrichment of the "Happening Now", which highlights immediate events in the form of icons that the user can scroll.

This strategy of improving the "quality of information" proposed, in the words of CEO Jack Dorsey, aims to increase the time users use the social network. After more than ten years of uninterrupted losses since its inception, Twitter has released its first earnings in the fourth quarter of 2017, followed by the second quarter in the green.
